THE STRUGGLE FOR TODAY’S YOUTH

THE STRUGGLE FOR TODAY’S YOUTH  Karen Hardin, Tulsa, OK

So it is today as our young people are bombarded with the mantra to be “open,” and “tolerant,” of sin because to do otherwise is to “judge.”  They have been beaten over the head with these words and images at school, in movies, in music, and in books and many have, in response, turned against their parents’ instruction and upbringing.  It has brought chaos into the home.  The constant barrage of these words of “acceptance” and”tolerance” has been so unrelenting, that it has whittled down their resistance until it has exchanged the truth for a lie.

…Some parents and leaders, in fear of losing these young ones, have allowed their own beliefs to adapt to this barrage.  It has allowed their borders to be broken down.  We are to pray for the borders of our homes.

5 Prophetic Declarations to Secure Our Borders:

  1. I have a peaceful and secure home. “My home is peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”  Isaiah 32:18
  2. My children are returning.   “Lift up your eyes round about and see; They all gather together, they come to you.  Your sons will come from afar, And your daughters will be carried in the arms.  Then you will see and be radiant, And your heart will thrill and rejoice; because the abundance of the sea will be turned to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you.”  Isaiah 60:4-5
  3. They are blessed.  “Your offspring will be known among the nations, and your descendants among the people.  All who see them will acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed. “  Isaiah 61:9
  4. They will know the truth and receive instruction.  “And those who err in mind will know the truth, And those who criticize will accept instruction.”  Isaiah 29:24
  5. They shall sanctify the Lord’s name.  “ But when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst, They will sanctify My name; Indeed, they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob.  And will stand in awe of the God of Israel.”  Isaiah 29:23

Do not be weary in your stand, This is your seat of authority to walk in and call forth those given in your care.  Pray for their minds.  Pray for their hearts.

I remember I developed my own prayer journal just to pray for Scott and Miriam.   I had their pictures next to the prayers I prayed over them.  I prayed for them to not just be “good kids” but to be “on fire for God.”   I prayed for their friends and for their future mates.   I still have the journal.

It’s time to quit “fussing” at your kids and pray for them and declare who they will be.                                 Pastor LaVerne
