“… ..Be Holy, for I am holy.” I Peter 1:15
Hello. I’m back and I am glad. There are many things in the Bible that make one ponder. The above verse is one of them. I have a question, “Are you holy?” Did you think, “No, but I am trying to be.” What are you doing to become holy since the same Bible says that “all our righteousness is as filthy rags.” How long have you worked at it? How much is left to do? What if you run out of time?
God put a requirement on man that he cannot do on his own. He asks us to be like Him. That is humanly impossible, and we need to admit that to ourselves. We must begin to understand and believe the truth of the Bible. Can you become like God? The answer is no, not by your own efforts. In the statement God is basically telling us to be like Him when He knows we cannot.
Are you saved? Are you a child of God? Do you believe that Jesus died that you might live? If you answered yes to these questions, then go one step further and confess that you are “holy.” Start thinking that God is telling us we can be like Him. We must just believe that He is saying, “I am holy and I make you holy. Jesus lives in us. We live “by the faith of Jesus.” When we are saved, we become righteous. Righteousness is the same as holiness. Stop trying to be holy and start living like you are holy.
“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ…” ( I Peter 1:13) God declares us holy, we didn’t earn it , we just believe it.
