Message for August 28, 2022 from Pastor Shirley

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek or pursue after.  For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek or pursue first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these shall be added to you.  Matthew 6:31-33                                        

The Gentiles (those without God) are seeking after the temporal things of life. Don’t  be like them. Jesus is saying those who belong to me don’t need to worry about your daily provision. The key is seeking me. When you pursue me and my way I will provide the daily things you need.    

In previous verses of Matthew 6 Jesus says, “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you.
