Cast Down or Get Cast Down!

When we entertain or meditate on thoughts from our past that give birth to negative emotions within us, and we do not cast them down as Scripture instructs, those thoughts can cause us to disconnect from our true identity in Christ.  We take these negative thoughts captive so they don’t capture us.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

The knowledge of God reveals who we are in Christ.  Understanding our identity empowers us to take negative thoughts captive and reject them–casting them down because they are contrary to what God’s Word declares about who we are and what we possess in Christ.
