Shall the Clay say to him who forms it, “What are you making?”

Shall the Clay say to him who forms it, “What are you making?”

Jeremiah 29:11  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, say the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

In Isaiah 45:9 the prophet asks the question, “Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’”  It is the potter who determines the purpose of the clay.  Question: “Are we here for our benefit or for God’s purpose?”

God has a plan for us.  We are called into submission to His plan.  We were never given the option of choosing our own plan and purpose.  Hebrews 10:7 says of Jesus, “Behold I have come. . . to do your will, O God.”  Jesus knew He had a purpose. He was here for God’s reason, not His.

We are not here for God to serve our purpose.  We are here to serve His.  I am called to fit into God’s plan.  It is about Him and not about me.  When I fit into His purpose, my life is successful, and I am blessed.  Blessing does not consist of the things we have or do not have.  Blessing is being in the will and purpose of God.  It is living my life for His glory.
