Repentance Is Peace, Not PunishmentRepentance Is Peace, Not PunishmentReligion turned repentance into a long, painful process soaked in guilt and shame. It is built on the fear that God will punish or reject you if you do not feel bad enough, long enough.Jesus never taught that.He taught that repentance is how a person is healed and accepted. It is the doorway back into wholeness and peace with Him—not a courtroom, a beating, or a lifetime of regret. The energy you spend living in sorrow over yesterday is energy stolen from the blessings God has for you today. The gospel is not about your past. It is about your present and your future. The thief on the cross looked forward to Paradise with Jesus. The woman caught in adultery walked away free. The Prodigal son was embraced, kissed, and given a party. None of them were told to stay in the pig pen of their history. The Father said, “Come home.” Then He celebrated.Let the past stay in the past. Let God’s love usher you into the future He has always had for you.“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more” (Hebrews 8:12).“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
