Message for May 19, 2024 from Pastor Shirley
Jesus ask them not to depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the Promise of the Father which He said you have heard from me. For John truly baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the holy Spirit not many days from now. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:4, 5 & verse 8.
Richard Roberts said: Shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, that represents your home. In Judea, that represents the places you go. In Samaria that represents the difficult places where it’s hard to be a witness.
The word “uttermost” means to the utmost degree, and includes all that can be said. It carries the idea of fullness and finality, and that Jesus is able to save completely, and forever.
They waited in the upper room as Jesus.
Acts 1:14 “These were all continuing with one mind–(that is, staying on course together–remaining steadfast in agreement with single mindedness and definiteness of purpose)…” New Millennia in Depth Bible Dr. Henry Harbuck
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
