“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:10
What’s in a name? Everything when it comes to GOD!
As we read through the Bible, we find the various names of God throughout the Scriptures. These names reveal to us the character and nature of God. Each name is the revelation of who God is, what He does, and how he reacts to humanity.
I believe it is important for the Believer to understand the names of God for developing a closer relationship with Him. And understanding the names of God is a way to know the heart of God. God chose to introduce himself to Moses for the first time in Exodus 3:14: “God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM”. I AM WHO I AM, embracing all who God is, how we are to relate to Him, and how He relates to his people.
“I AM THAT I AM,” as stated to Moses in Exodus 3:14, is often interpreted as being equivalent to the name Jehovah or Yahweh, which is the personal name of God in the Hebrew Bible. The phrase signifies God’s self-existence and immutability, meaning He always was, always is, and always will be.
GOD desires for you to know WHO He is. He desires for you to know His Heart. He is a good, good Father!
