“And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!” II Tim. 4:18(NKJV)
Are you confident enough in your God to make the same declaration as Paul does in the verse above? To me, this statement is one of the most powerful in the entire Bible. There is no evil work that can keep the apostle down. He is sure that the Lord will never leave him nor forsake him. His God will never let him down.
There is no “if it be His will” in this statement, there is no speculation, and there seems to be no doubt by Paul. It isn’t “wishin’ and a hopin’’ or wondering whether it will be done. To be like Paul you have to know that you know “the Lord will DELIVER me from every evil.”
Paul also makes another very powerful and important confession that the Lord will preserve him for His heavenly kingdom. Paul isn’t hoping he makes it, hoping he can hold on, or wondering if he will. He is solidly assured and confessing that the “Lord” will do the preserving for the rest of his life. He can safely rest in the Lord’s hands to get him home.
Home is where the heart is. Where is your heart? Is it fixed on the things of this world or is it set on the Lord and His heavenly kingdom? Choose ye this day life or death.
