For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God hath prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:11
The original Greek word for workmanship is “poiema” literally meaning a poem or a work of art. His love is written all over our lives. We are God’s completed work of art.
When we received Christ into our lives, the Bible says we become a “new creation,” and we have a new identity in Christ.” He created you spiritually and physically different than anyone else because he has a specific and unique purpose for your life.
Paul says we are created in Christ Jesus, “to do good works.” God’s plan in giving us salvation through Jesus Christ was for us to have eternal life with Him. The purpose of that plan of salvation is so that we may do good works. Good works is not to earn our salvation that is a free gift from God.
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8
The scripture tells us we are created for good works that God has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. The good works have already been prepared, we get to partner with God to do those good works for his glory. Every day we have the privilege and opportunity to do good. It is the heart and soul of a Christian to go about doing good. Good works is not something that we do just in certain areas of our life or on special occasions. It is who we are as God’s sons and daughters in this world.
The more we grow in knowledge of what we are (his workmanship-completed work) the more we will show forth the glory of God through what we do.
