Keep His Promises Where You Can’t Forget Them

Keep His Promises Where You Can’t Forget Them
When God promised Abraham a son, He didn’t stop there. He painted a picture Abraham could never escape: His descendants would be as numerous as the grains of sand and the stars in the heavens.
Every step Abraham took, sand clung to his feet. Every night he looked up, the stars filled the sky. God was making sure the promise stayed in front of him—day and night. Natural descendants and spiritual descendants alike were locked into that unforgettable picture. God knows how easily we forget.
That is why He invites us to meditate on His promises continually. Like Abraham, we need constant reminders that He is a good God who keeps His word.
Reality is shaped by what you keep your heart fixed on. “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:20-23).
What you keep before your eyes and in the middle of your heart becomes the atmosphere you live in. Choose the sand. Choose the stars. Keep God’s promises where you cannot forget them.
