The Bible is the best-selling book of all time and contains a rich history filled with surprising trivia.  

• Meaning of the Name: The word “Bible” comes from the ancient Greek word biblia, which simply means “the books”. 

• A Mini Library: It is not a single book. It is a collection of 66 different books written by more than 40 different authors over a span of about 1,500 years. 

• Diverse Authors: The writers included kings, shepherds, fishermen, a doctor, and a tax collector.   

• Three Languages: The text was originally written in three languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.  

• Chapters and Verses: The original writers did not write in chapters and verses. Numbers and divisions were added later, around 1200 CE, to make finding passages easier
