Message for August 3, 2025 from Pastor Shirley

Matthew 6:25-34 heading in the Spirit-filled Life Bible: “Do not worry.”   Verse 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life and what you will eat, what you will drink, nor about your body.  What you put on.  Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing”?

Worry: (Strong’s) To divide into parts.  The word suggests distraction, a preoccupation with things causing anxiety, stress, and pressure.  Jesus speaks against worry and anxiety because of the watchful care of a Heavenly Father who is ever mindful of our daily needs. Verse 33  “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Rather than being preoccupied with material things, our ambition should be to seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness, knowing that as we do, He has pledged himself with covenant faithfulness to respond – all these things shall be added to you.

The Message Translation reads verse 34 as “Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met”.

As children of God, we do not have to search out the riches the world has to offer.  Salvation endowed us with great riches. 

Ephesians 1:18 Says We Share In The Rich Inheritance In The Saints.
