Message for April 13, 2025 from Pastor Shirley

The following is the first portion of the song “The Goodness of God.  I love you, Lord, for your mercies never fail me all my days. I have been held in your hand. From the moment I wake up till I lay my head to rest. I will sing of the goodness of God.’ 

David wrote Psalm 31:19 about the goodness of God.    “How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you”.

The word goodness in Hebrew means “good in the widest sense.”  This goodness of God represents everything that God is, everything that God has, and everything that God desires for us to experience. That is our God!  Great and mighty is His love for his people. John 1:21 says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 

According to James 1:17 every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light….”

Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of The LORD forever.”  The definition of “follow” is “to pursue”.
