FROM PASTOR SHIRLEY
Having Done All –Stand
I was raised in the Baptist faith as a young girl. The songs that we sang then are still in the recesses of my mind. “Standing on the Promises of God” is one of my favorites.
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
Our heavenly Father is a God of promises! Doesn’t that make you want to stand up and shout!! In the Bible all the way from the book of Genesis to the book of the Revelation we find recorded promises which He has made. Promise means, “A divine assurance of good”. Stand means, “to continue and refers to another meaning, “upright active position.” God is good all the time, all the time God is good. Don’t give up; continue to stand on the promises of His Word. Do we dare to believe that God wants to daily load us with the benefits of these promises?
Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In Him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting His Yes within us.
By His Spirit he has stamped us with His eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what He is destined to complete. 2 Corinthians 1:20 Message Bible
