Self Seeking Not God Seeking

Self Seeking Not God Seeking
“Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.”  John 6:26
Jesus knew the hearts of all men and therefore, He did not commit Himself to this crowd.  Just the day before, these same people tried to take Him by force and make Him their king, but He withdrew and spent the night in prayer.
The crowd looked like they were seeking Jesus, but they were actually trying to use Jesus to seek their own end.  It is true that there are many personal benefits to be reaped through serving the Lord, but the benefits are never to become our object.  In all things, Christ must have the preeminence (Col. 1:18).
Jesus exposed the true intentions of the people’s hearts by preaching a strong message of commitment.  Those who were self-centered were offended and left, while those who were willing to lay down their lives to experience God’s abundant life remained.  Commitment to God Himself (not what He can produce) is what always separates the true worshippers of God from the false.
As Jesus began to explain in these verses that He was the only way to the Father (Jn. 14:6) and that they would have to come through Him,  the people grew angry.  It always angers the flesh to think that all our righteous acts can’t save us, but Jesus made it clear that our only part in salvation is to believe.  Believe what?  Believe in Jesus and His sacrifice, not ours.  Salvation is a gift and cannot be purchased (Rom. 10:2-3).
Many times, we get so intent on seeking God in one area that we forget the greatest miracle of all, which is the love and redemption given to us from God through His Son. God loves us so much!.                      By Andrew Wommack

Isaiah 57:15-19  God is high and lifted up.  He lives forever. His name is holy.
I AM God, High and Lifted Up.  When I AM exalted, then you will see me for who I AM.  Things that come to irritate you will be as nothing.  For I have come to make all things well.  For I AM your Shield.  I AM your Defense.  I AM Fortress.  I will be what you perceive me to be.  I am not like a mere man.  I AM God Almighty!  The more than Sufficient one.  Lift me higher.  I AM the bridge over troubled water.  See me for who I AM.
“But for us, there is one God, the Father, from whom all things came, and for whom we live; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came, and through whom we live.”   1 Corinthians 8:6
“It is through him that we live and function and have our identity; just as your poets have said, ‘Our lineage comes from him.’    Acts 17:28 TPT

God’s Options or Ours?

God’s Options or Ours?
‘But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Be of good cheer, it is I;  be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.’
                                     Matthew 14:27-28
It is important to analyze Peter’s statement.  Peter was overwhelmed when he saw Jesus walking on the water, and he wanted to do the same.  While there is nothing wrong with his desire, the request he put before Jesus was wrong.  He didn’t ask the Lord if He wanted him to walk on the water, or if his faith was up to it.  Instead, he said,  ‘If it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.’  What was Jesus going to say, “It isn’t me.  Don’t come.’?
There are no other examples of someone walking on water in the Word of God.  Jesus had a definite reason for walking on the water; however, Peter simply wanted to see if he could do it.  God will permit us to do things that are not His perfect will for us.
y times, we hinder our prayers by the way we ask things of God.  We say, ‘Do you want me to do (a) or (b)?  The Lord may not want us to do either one.  We should give Him a third choice–(c) none of the above.  We should trust God’s wisdom and even allow Him to select the options.                                 Andrew Wommack
Proverbs 3:5-6 the Message–Trust God from the bottom of your heart, don’t try to figure out everything on your own.  Listen to God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go. He’s the one who will keep you on track.

Message for May 4, 2025 from Pastor Shirley

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” Deuteronomy 6:4                                                                                   Who’s who and what’s what?  We live in a time of uncertainty, and it is important that we know and understand what we believe and why.  It seems to be getting to be more and more politically incorrect to believe and preach that Jesus is the only way to Heaven.  Religious tolerance is being touted by the media and political leaders with an “accept all beliefs” attitude.
In the Bible, there is a story about a King named Sennacherib.  He had the vision of world conquest, including Judah.  His plan was progressing fine until Hezekiah refused to surrender and sent word that Judah was trusting God to save them.  Sennacherib reminded Hezekiah that no other God had saved his people from conquest so far.  Hezekiah’s God would not deliver him.  Was he right or wrong?  Hezekiah’s God DID deliver him.
The God of Hezekiah was able to perform what He had promised.  A real God can do real things.  It isn’t just all talk and ideas.  Theology is just a bunch of ideas and words unless it has a God that is alive and powerful.  How many gods are there?  Which ones are most powerful?  Remember, Paul said all idols (other gods) are demons.  Politically incorrect?  Of course it is.  Proclaiming Jesus as the only way will always be.
