GOD IS GOOD

GOD IS GOOD
John 21:25 ‘And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.’
Every detail of every man’s life, who has ever walked on the earth, has not impacted the world as much as the few recorded details of Jesus’ life.  Jesus was not just a man, He was God  manifest in the flesh ( I Tim. 3:16).
In Acts 10:38 Peter gives a very brief, yet descriptive summary of the life and ministry of Jesus.  Jesus was anointed with power and with the Holy Ghost.
He used this power to do good, not evil.  This is one of the main characteristics of God and is one of the easiest ways to discern what is from God and what is from the devil.  God is a good God and devil is a bad devil  If it’s bad, it’s from the devil  If it’s good, it’s from God.
Tragedy can come from three sources:  God, Satan, and natural law.  God has used nature to bring judgment.  However, the New Testament believer is exempt from this punitive judgment of God since Jesus bore it for him.
Satan is the source of much of the calamity that people ascribe to God.  Many problems arise because people violate the natural laws that God put into motion.  If a person drives recklessly and kills himself, it’s not God or the devil that killed him.  He violated natural law and thus paid the price.
It is incorrect to believe that God controls everything and therefore always has some redemptive design in tragedies.  This type of thinking will lead us to ignore the devil, thereby giving him a freehand to destroy our lives.  It will also cause us not to use wisdom concerning natural laws, because we will think that nothing can happen unless God wills it.  We must remember that God is a good God.

Another year will soon be behind us.  What a year it has been!  Through it all we have seen the goodness of God.
In the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 lists many seasons of life.  The word “season” comes from the Hebrew word zeman, which means “fixed or appointed time”.  There is a purpose in every season of our lives. The “changes” that we experience in each season of our life is not always easy.  We cling to our Savior who will never “change” never.  Malachi 3:6 tells us “For I the Lord do not change.”  Hebrews 13:8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
My takeaway from Solomn who wrote the book of Ecclesiasters is that if we cooperate with God’s purposes and timing life will not be meaningless.
Solemn tells us Ecclesiastes 3:11  “He has made everything beautiful in its time.
Everything, even the most difficult experiences of life, will be “beautiful in its time”
In life when things may seem not so beautiful God is still God.  He will take what has meant evil toward you and turn it for Your good!  That is who our God is in every season of our lives.

 Is Grace Cheap?

 Is Grace Cheap?
Some people who criticize grace as being cheap or dangerous are, in reality, telling others that God expects individuals to achieve some level of performance to be worthy of His grace.  Here lies the problem:  grace is unearned; it is a free gift.  It is not cheap–it cost God His Son’s life, which was offered up for us.  Calling grace cheap is an insult to all that Jesus did in His death, burial, and resurrection.       Ed Elliott

 Why the World Promotes Fear
The world sells fear so it can be your savior.  However, Jesus says to “fear not” because He  is your Savior!
I choose Jesus!
“For God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Fearful people won’t operate in the power of God, nor will they know or experience the love of God.  They will always be confused.                        Ed Elliott

If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist.
If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.
But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Savior.

Isaiah 9:6  “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”
Matthew 1:23  “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”.
John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”
Romans 10:9-10: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved”.

Why it is important to never give up on God’s goodness!

Why it is important to never give up on God’s goodness!
“I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for and confidently expect the Lord;  Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord” (Psalm 27:13-14).
The Psalmist makes the powerful point that if he had given up on trusting in God’s goodness towards him, he would have given up.  Knowing God and the fact He is a good God helps us no matter what we are facing in life to hold on to Him and His ways because we can be assured to see His goodness manifest in our lives.
You never need to give up on Yourself or Life.
As long as God is a good God and He tells us He will never change.

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made”.           John 1:3  For it is by faith I believe that all things were created and made by God.
Colossians 1:16 “For in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible”.  This verse describes how everything that exists was created through and for Christ
The same faith that causes me to believe is the same faith that gets me through daily life. This same faith that causes me to receive the promises of his word.
Because God is big and strong enough to make all things by the power of his word he surely can and will take care of me to the biggest to the smallest thing.
By faith I know that God can and by this same faith I know my God will!

Isaiah 61:3 “To preserve those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of  heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.”
In the above verse we are shown the remedy for the spirit of heaviness.  Heaviness always has the sense of anxiety, sorrow, grief, fear, dread.”  The word “heaviness” in this verse is the Hebrew word “keheh” which in addition to heaviness means “to grow dim, fade and faint”.  The spirit of heaviness wants you to grow weak, weary, and lose your praise!  This robs you of your joy.  Isaiah 61:3 tells us there is a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

The Glorious Garment of Praise.
The Hebrew root for garment shows clothing casually thrown over our shoulders.  It literally teaches us to “wrap” or “cover” ourselves-that the garment of praise is to leave no openings through which hostile elements can penetrate.  This garment of praise repels and replaces the heavy Spirit.  This special message of instruction and hope is for those oppressed by fear or double.  Put on this garment.   A warm coat from our closet only resists the cold wind when it is “put on.”  When distressed be dressed-with praise!  Act according to God’s Word!
